Opposite Me ...

Posted on Nov 19th, 2009 by Naumadd : Rationally Passionate Writer Naumadd

__________

I dream a world
of Opposite Me
and see what I'm not
when I'm not what I see

I'm in where I'm out
and round where I'm flat
and I'm spilling with passions
from my old empty hat

I'm up when I'm down
and smile when I'm sad
I'm contented and laughing
when my hurting is bad

I'm stomping the rain
when I'm dry as a bone
and I'm walking with people
when I'm sitting alone

I'm a fountain of words
when I've nothing to say
and I sing with the forest
when I've nothing to pray

I dream a world
of Opposite Me
where I'm all of those things
... those things that I see.

Thanks Kevino. So glad you liked it. Started out very different - as haiku actually - and became this. Thinking of expanding it to include more contrast stanzas perhaps for a small standalone illustrated book. Also thinking of a version more suitable to children and something like Dr. Seuss.

Hi,
I confess I followed Kevino here.  It's something about his iconic smile :) !  heehee !
What a joy it is to be able to sit, read and enjoy another's poetry.
Yours I found very enjoyable, and great!
thank you

Thanks Winterfruit for taking the time to read the poem and respond. So glad you liked it. I primarily write haiku and senryu and have been wanting to get back to longer pieces. Seems I'm experiencing some writer's block with the shorter verses and it just seems like time to move beyond them for a while. Wrote another longer piece today titled ” … and he burns”. It's similar to the simple imagery of haiku - just a man burning leaves - but I felt it demanded something longer than simply a haiku. I've found all too often lately that I want to say so much about an image that it fairly ruins a the haiku or senryu to try to fit it all in.

Anyway, thanks again to you and Kevino.

As I read this, I think the other side of the mirror~

And an insight between Poet and Poetry, the spaces in between, perhaps.

Blessings~
