Age: 47

About Me:
I'm first and foremost an individualist. I believe in passion filtered respectfully through sound thinking and reason continually driven by a lust for life. I'm deeply committed to authenticity and strongly drawn to any and all human beings committed to the same. I chose the name “Naumadd” (pronounced “nomad”) because, quite independent of what I'm doing, where I'm at or who I'm with, I've always seen myself as a traveler, a wanderer with no single or established home. I don't believe any place or time belongs to us. Places, people, things , moments are transitory as are our own lives. “Permanency” and “ownership” are illusions and to keep one's station is stagnation, anti-life and, in many ways, a walking death.
Of Scottish/Irish, English and Native American descent, I'm a veteran of the U.S. armed forces, a writer, professional linguist and foreign-language translator, avid reader, independent scholar, and obsessive artist. I've lived in the northwestern United States for over ten years and absolutely adore mountains. Ancient forests, most especially the California Redwoods serve as my mentors and I crave all the snow you can give me. Rainy days and tumultuous weather quiet my chaos and inspire me. Dark gray days are my favorite and always have been. I find sunlight an insult to the mind, body and spirit in too large a dose.
Someone once said, “Each instant is a place we've never been.” I like to think that each moment of our personal lives is a moment only we could have created and can never be created again. We are each one-of-a-kind in the entire universe and the moments we create the rarest of gems. We sing our uniqueness into the universe and create new time and space radiating in all directions - inwardly and outwardly. The spiral within spiral within spiral is the way of all things and the path and mantra of my own personal life.
“We swim
in a lake of shadow called Memory,
bleeding,
bleeding into the waves.”
